Loose Shoe Soles to Global Enterprise

A Sticky Situation – the Problem of Loose shoe soles

In 1938, Cornelis van de Reepe, a Dutch wholesaler of shoes and leather goods, established the foundation for what is now a global enterprise. Van de Reepe was consistently frustrated by the issue of shoe soles becoming detached. In response, he developed a natural rubber-based adhesive known as Perfecta Supra.

This adhesive achieved immediate success, leading Van de Reepe to choose the impressive name “Vereenigde Chemische Bedrijven Perfecta-Handelsonderneming Corn. V.d. Reepe & Zoon” for his company, which is commonly referred to as “Perfecta”.

Since its establishment, Bison has grown to become a globally recognized brand, offering high-quality adhesives in more than 70 countries to cater to a diverse range of clientele.

In 1996 Bison (formerly known as Perfecta Chemie) became part of Bolton Group, joining an impressive powerhouse of adhesive brands such as UHU, and later Griffon and the Bostik Italy brand, which are now housed under the Bolton Adhesives umbrella.
